Image of the Week #7: Interview Mag Celebrates the Death of the American Judicial System, by Adam Lehrer
2016: the year the New York cultural establishment stopped intellectually evolving
Sometimes people let the same problem make them miserable for years when they could just say, So what. That's one of my favorite things to say. So what.
That’s none other than Andy Warhol talking about people who seethe. Seethers are resentful of change because they are addicted to their own resentment. They grow para-socially attached to that which their limited imaginations won’t allow them to understand. The seether sees a phenomenon, some potent force altering reality in some fundamental way, and can’t embrace it because it punctures their fragile senses of comfort and stability. So they reject it, loudly and often, to the point that they become parodies of themselves.
As it turns out, the people that still run the mag…. Well, at least the shell of the magazine that Andy founded, Interview Magazine, are amongst those seethers.
Yesterday was truly an embarrassing and shameful day for American democracy; a former president charged with a FELONY over something as trivial as paying a past whore to keep her fucking mouth shut. Campaign funds? Who fucking cares? The same political party that worshipped at the alter of a president who made his intern choke on it and paid a woman he raped $800K to disappear now weaponizes the once sacred American justice system for tawdry and flagrantly partisan purposes to circumvent the rebirth of their political opponent and deny to themselves their own gaping failures. I don’t care if you’re a Trump supporter or not. If you believe in AMERICA, and that in America we have certain inalienable rights and FREEDOMS, then you should be wincing in disgust about what happened yesterday. If you are in any way “both sides”ing such an obvious notion, then I have no respect for you. If you can’t see the obvious HACK JOB that was perpetrated against Donald Trump clearly, then you have no vision at all. Andy Warhol had vision. He saw what America could be if it really tried.
”Everybody has their own America,” said Andy. “They have the pieces of a fantasy America that they think is out there but they can’t see.
It’s a shame that those who now operate the imprint that Andy created as a bible of American style, entertainment, and controversy refuse to see that they are on the opposite end of the principles that Andy held dear. While I’m obviously not surprised that the people running our fashion and art magazines skew libtard, it was still a bit shocking to witness the vulgar spectacle made by Interview editor Mel Ottenberg and his legions of hipster hags outside the courthouse that was laying down a faulty verdict upon our former president. These are artists, in the Warholian vein allegedly, are they not? They should be the last people in the world to be scandalized by Trump paying Stormy Daniels to not flap her mouth at the press about their affair. Yet, scandalized they are. They cheered outside the verdict, fervent in their hollow self righteousness, like it was Beatlesmania and they were getting to see Ringo in person for the first time, smug in their pleasure as they witness what is nothing less than the erosions of our legal protections as American citizens.
Pieces of shit, I thought, they hate art they hate America they hate anything NEW!
Ottenberg and others like him also have their own versions of America, and it’s a vision that is rapidly fading. An America in which they are the renegades. The movers. The idiosyncratic creators of the new. But we all know that this is not the case. The fashion fags celebrating as America’s justice system was flushed down the toilet along with its dignity and pride were jubilant about little more than their fantasy being able to live on another day. They are not the subculture, nor are they even the culture. They are dinosaurs fossilized in their own stilted imaginations. The artistic movements that have arisen around the Trumpian ideology, however, are the future. We are Dada. We are Futurism. We are POP!
They can have their little celebration, for ever man deserves his final meal before facing the noose. We will be victorious. Our vision of America, the land of bravura and endless creation, will bloom. It’ll blossom as Donald Trump is sworn into office once more. We will then have vengeance in our hears and spirits. It is time to destroy what is left of the arts media. These people can’t be trusted to see true beauty, true ingenuity and FREEDOM of thought even as it quite literally barks in their faces. Their time is up. Our time is now.
They need to put Trump Derangement Syndrome in the DSM-5 as a legitimate mental disorder, because people have truly lost their minds. I saw writers gleefully cheering for him to get the death penalty! Go to Riker's Island! Have a stroke in prison! Die, orange menace, die!!!!!!
