System of Systems by Safety Propaganda: Olympian Fall (W/ Laje Amare and William Landry)
Competitive bodybuilder William Landry and music producer/bodybuilding enthusiast Laje Amare join the audio misinformation arm to discuss the increasingly nonsensical judging standards of Mr. Olympia
We are now a few weeks passed the 2023 Mr. Olympia contest. Chris Bumstead mogged the competition in the classic physique Olympia to win his fifth title. In the 212 LB. short king division, youngster Keone Pearson won, completely unjustly, over two time champ Shaun Clarida. And finally, another robbing took place in the big boy open division class, with American Christian boy Derrick Lunsford winning over the former Iranian champion Hadi Choopan. Derrick has an amazing back but is soft from the front, Hadi is complete and razor sharp. The decision was controversial, and even more narratively juicy given that Hadi and Derrick share a coach in legend Hany Rambod. Now infamously, Hadi stormed off the stage in a tren rage after learning he was second place.
Overall, it feels like the standards of bodybuilding are in decline. The sport seems to have reached its pinnacle, with Phil Heath being the champion who set the standard for what a bodybuilder should look like in the 2010s. Since then, conditioning has gone down hill, no one is getting in shape, and the one guy who does get in shape (Nick Walker) was injured right before the show, tragically.
To discuss all of this, Adam brings on music producer and bodybuilding enthusiast Laje Amare and competitive bodybuilder William Landry.
Note: I fully understand that most of our audience will have no fucking clue what we are talking about. Accept it as a good bit of provocateur theater, none the less
