Visual Propaganda #3: Maxwell Volkman
Maxwell Volkman is a Chicago-based artist who makes mixed-media paintings that pulsate with violence, psychosis, and perversion
Chicago-based artist Maxwell Volkman makes mixed-media paintings that pulsate with violence, psychosis, and perversion. Using acrylic paint and inkjet prints, he uses the paint to frame mostly internet sourced images, each of which invite contradictory associations. The paintings have a kind of explosiveness to them, they feel wrong and threatening. The artist is currently finishing up an MFA at SAIC. - Adam Lehrer
