Your cop experience sounds thoroughly familiar. Same thing happened to me in 1969, and I ended up with six months in Mansfield. I tried snitching on the guy who had sold me the pot, but he was an informer (which is why I got arrested)... so nothing happened to him.
One minor quibble: The cops know the difference between petit bourgeois and grand bourgeois. My housemate was grand bourgeois, with a trustfund and a locally famous name. He had a real stash, but the cops were NOT going to arrest him under any conditions. They knew which parts of the apartment were his, and studiously avoided those areas. They skipped his stash and found my one seed, and that was enough.
It's all about caste. Caste is innate and permanent, and caste is the only thing that matters. Censorship and punishment are strictly about caste, not content. Everything said and done by Correct People is a command. Everything said and done by Incorrect People is a crime.
